Shah Rukh Khan’s classics among the IFFI inflatable cinema lineup

Three Shah Rukh Khan titles will be screened for the first time in inflatable cinema format as part of the lineup for the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

The National Film Development Corporation and the Entertainment Society of Goa are once again partnering with mobile digital theater company PictureTime Digiplex for the festival’s inflatable cinema initiative, which will take place from November 20 to 28 in Goa. This year’s line-up will feature ‘Chak De! India’, ‘Darr’ and ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ making their debut at the inflatable theatre.

The list includes four categories: inspirational films, classics of the Indian panorama, nostalgia and children’s cinema. Contemporary titles include Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s ’12th Fail’, Malayalam blockbuster ‘Manjummel Boys’, Rajkummar Rao’s ‘Srikanth’, Rani Mukerji’s ‘Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway’ and Sooraj Barjatya’s ‘Uunchai’.

Classical selections include Satyajit Ray’s “Shatranj Ke Khilari,” “Salaam Bombay!” ” by Mira Nair, “Qissa” by Anup Singh, “Teesri Manzil” by Vijay Anand and “Chandni” and “Kala Patthar” by Yash Chopra, among others.

The daily children’s programming will include ‘Kaphal: Wild Berries’, ‘Gattu’, ‘Banarasi Jasoos’, ‘The Prince and the Stone Crown’ and ‘Naal 2’.

PictureTime will set up its inflatable theater at Kala Academy, one of IFFI’s main broadcast hubs, with additional outdoor screenings at several locations in North and South Goa to provide local residents with access to the festival’s programming.

“This year’s lineup – ranging from iconic Shah Rukh Khan classics to acclaimed contemporary titles like ‘12th Fail’ and ‘Manjummel Boys’ – reflects the diversity and cultural richness of Indian cinema,” said Sushil Chaudhary, founder and CEO of PictureTime Digiplex. “We are particularly excited about screenings held for children and young students, as nurturing young audiences is essential to the future of film appreciation.”

The Kala Academy Inflatable Theater is expected to welcome more than 1,000 visitors daily, including international delegates, film professionals, student groups and film enthusiasts. The open-air screenings in Goa are expected to attract an additional 300-400 spectators per venue every day.

PictureTime’s association with IFFI dates back to 2017, when the company organized the Bioscope Village at the festival.
