Where does the Supergirl come from in Superman (and why is it drunk)

Milly Alcock made her delicious debut at the end of Supermanrevealing a version of the character very different from that played by Melissa Benoist. An Australian actress who pulled glory after Dragon HouseMilly Alcock is the last actress to bring Kara Zor-El on the big screen.
The DCU supergirl is clearly very different from everything we have seen on the screen before. This version is inspired by the representation of Tom King and Bilquis Evely Supergirl: woman of tomorrowWho saw Kara do a cosmic quest for revenge after her dog Krypto was injured. SupermanThe end is configured for an adaptation of this same story.
But how did the Superman cousin survive the destruction of Krypton, and how can a Kryptonian be drunk?
The origin of Supergirl in the DC universe explained
The restarts are part of the DC Comics universe for decades, and Supergirl’s original story has been rewritten several times (Some versions have not even been Kryptonian). It is generally the teenage cousin of Superman, raised in a Kryptonian city which survived the destruction of Krypton thanks to a force field, sent to Earth when this field is up.
In more modern versions, Supergirl was fifteen when Krypton exploded; She was sent to Earth to take care of Kal-El, but her ship was damaged and was placed in a cryogenic suspension. Kara only arrived on Earth for years later, a Kryptonian who was shocked to learn that her baby cousin was now all adults.
The most recent story of the origin of Supergirl – probably the one attached to the DCU – is subtly different. Here, Kara’s pod has reached the solar system but orbits our star for a few decades, deliberately supplying its Kryptonian powers. The result was the same, however; Kara found herself blocked on an extraterrestrial world with an adult cousin.
Where was Supergirl during Superman events?
Supergirl was out of the world during the events of SupermanOn something of a cosmic cinestal. In the comics, the Kryptonians cannot get drunk on earth; Their superhuman metabolism treats alcohol too quickly. Thus, a Kryptonian seeking to get drunk first must find a red sun, which leads them to lose their powers.
It seems that Supergirl decided that she wanted to do a drinking tour, and she had chosen to leave her dog, Krypto, with Kal-el to treat. It is a fairly soft touch; This means that Superman’s despair to save Krypto also reflected his love for his cousin.
We do not know how much the existence of Supergirl is widely known on earth. Superman seems to have done a lot, winning the enmity of Lex Luthor in the three years since he started to operate in public, and he has a particularly tense relationship with the governments of the earth. Supergirl has not been mentioned, which may imply that she kept her head down.
That said, Peacemaker The first of season 2 revealed that Supergirl also worked with The Justice Gang occasionally. The redesigned opening has shown that the Supergirl of Milly Alcock among the team that arrived a little too late to help the peacemaker save the world, which has even increased the possibility that it is sometimes a member of the gang.
Why was Supergirl was drunk in Superman
Viewers who know Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl better better will naturally be surprised by this new performance. But This is a very different version of Karathe one who does not treat his sorrow and his loss as effectively as the one who saw in the Supergirl TV show.
It’s a supergirl that known What she lost when her native world was destroyed. Superman had no knowledge of Krypton, but Kara was born and grew up there, and she lost everything she knew – with all her family. The pain is much cooler, much deeper, than anything that according to Superman.
Superman Rewrite Kal-El’s original story, revealing that his parents sent him to earth as a potential conqueror. This imperialist context also naturally has an impact on Supergirl because it was mentioned in this society. It is striking that she did not influence Kal-El; She may doubt her education, adding more emotional confusion in the mixture.
Anyway, Kara has clearly learned that she can get drunk by finding a red sun and losing her superhuman powers. As in the Supergirl: woman of tomorrow History of comics, she probably has a spaceship that she used to head towards a red sun and drown her sorrows for a while.
In Supergirl: woman of tomorrowKara’s grief had become overwhelming because she had reached the milestone of her twenty -first birthday. The conscience of her family was not there to celebrate him with her, as well as the knowledge on which she had lived while her relatives had died, meant that she was desperate to escape. It’s likely SupermanThe end has set up a very similar story.
