This ultra tiny nucleus PC is designed for Kubuntu Linux

Kubuntu Focus, the company that sells PCs built specifically for Desktop Linux, has just published PC NX Gen 3. It is a small desktop computer powered by the latest Ultra 7 equipment from Intel and Kubuntu Linux.
This PC is an update version of the company Focus NX computer, which somewhat looks like an Apple Mac Mac or Asus Nuc PC. It is a compact office measuring 4.6 x 4.4 x 15 inches (117 x 112 x 37 mm), with a metallic body, a plastic top and the same design of heat sink as the Cyber Canyon Nuc of Intel computers.
The main upgrade here is the processor, which is now available in two options: an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H or an Intel Core Ultra 5 225H. The two processors are 15th generation models with a 40 W TDP, but the Ultra 7 has more hearts / threads, better integrated graphics and slightly faster clock speeds. Kubuntu Focus also uses double channel RAM for the best possible performance.
The rest of the equipment is also impressive. You get two Thunderbolt 4 ports, several USB type-A and USB type-C, HDMI, Wi-Fi 7, 2.5 g Ethernet LAN, Bluetooth 5.4 and two M.2 locations for readers. You can open the PC with a standard Phillips screw to replace or upgrade the components – a cry from afar of the Mac Mini not improved from Apple. You can connect up to four 4K monitors at a time, using the two DisplayPort 2.1 outputs on USB-C and two HDMI 2.1 ports simultaneously.
As with all computers of the company, this is delivered with Kubuntu 24.04 LTS out of the box, associated with some public services to control the system and learn to use the Linux office. However, any other modern Linux distribution should work as well. Windows is not an officially sustained operating system, but it should work after having tracked down the missing drivers. If you sometimes need double boot windows, it could be a good idea to use one of the M.2 reader’s locations only for a Windows SSD and keep your ordinary Linux installation on the basic player.
