“In accordance with the regulations of the Legues Cup, the four sanctioned people will also receive fines following their conduct. All suspensions must be signified in the next edition or editions of the League Cup until they are fully completed,” the committee said in a press release.
The declaration noted that “Major League Soccer (MLS) reserves the right to impose other disciplinary actions on the players and the staff of coaches involved”.
MLS has made no official announcements on any additional suspension.
The League Cup is an annual tournament organized each summer between the MLS and Liga MX clubs, so that the suspensions will not apply before the 2026 edition. The Miami de Suárez and Busquets contracts should expire at the end of the season.
Suárez has presented himself since his behavior after the final, publishing a declaration on his social networks.
“It was a moment of great tension and frustration, where just after the end of the match, things happened that should not have happened, but that does not justify my reaction,” he wrote.
“I made a mistake and apologies sincerely. It is not the image that I want to give before my family, who suffers because of my mistakes, in front of my club, which does not deserve to be affected by something like that.”
Inter Miami then published a statement, claiming that the club “condemns the altercations that took place following the conclusion of the League final”.
