Steve Davis sends a clear message to the BBC while the World Snooker Championship World Championship is blown away
Steve Davis has been a pillar of the BBC snooker coverage for many years, but his passion for sport had decreased – to a sudden change of heart of the former world champion
The Snooker icon, Steve Davis, spoke with frankly to rediscover her passion for sport and his position at the BBC.
The 67 -year -old man, who reigned supreme in the 1980s with six narcotic world titles, admitted that his interest in the snooker had faded in recent years, aroused fears among supporters of his continuous presence on television. But before the Snooker 2025 world championship, Davis said he had fallen in love with the game, signaling a notable change in his perspective.
“There is a little time ago when I said to myself:” Oh here, we are going, world championship, no matter for me who wins. I’m going to go, do my job and keep my head, “he admitted.
“But over time, I can no longer try to see who are the best players, who will win it and I appreciate it more, remembering what it is to be a player.”
Davis described the change of mind as a major turning point. “I filmed a corner, it’s very strange,” he told Metro. “So I can’t wait to see how everything is going.
“Older players trying to remember the years, the young players who are spending. It’s a great time to be a snooker fan now. So many big players.”
This renewed vigor emerged during what Davis considers an exceptional era for sport. He finds the confrontation between experienced veterans and highly convincing rising stars. “It’s a great time to be a snooker fan now. So many great players,” he added.
Davis has also noted a spectacular improvement in skills levels, with incredible photos now commonplace.
“Look at the players now, you’re always going,” wow, what a blow! “It is a bombardment.
“The levels have increased. If I can’t appreciate this, then there is something that is wrong.”
His dedication revived at the snooker also strengthened his passion for his role at the BBC. “I appreciate being part of the BBC team, so as long as they appreciate it, I am delighted,” he admitted.
He praised his colleagues, calling them a “large group of people” who share his appreciation for the drama and the intensity of the sport.
“Suddenly, there are major scenarios and so many big games,” he said, explaining that he was more committed to the game now than he was 10 years ago.
With Davis again under tension of both the competition and the comments box, it is clear that it is not ready to retire anytime – to the great relief, without a doubt, of its faithful fans base.
