However, the decision has not fallen well with a lot despite the official announcement to be made, suggesting that the ECB cannot ignore the inheritance of the former Indian captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, who also played for Sussex. However, BCCI stressed that the decision depends entirely on the ECB.
In the middle of the buzz, Sachin Tendulkar did not remain silent and stretched out directly to the senior officials of the BCCI and the BCC and expressed its solid reserves on the withdrawal of an inheritance so deeply linked to the Cricket Roots of India. After the intervention of Tendulkar, the president of the ICC, Jay Shah, also forced the ECB to rethink.

However, there is no official update on the same thing, but it seems likely that the name of the Pataudi trophy will remain with the series of Tests from England-India, at least in a form, thanks to the intervention of Dentulkar and Shah. ECB officials are now likely to create a special medal in the memory of the late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, who will probably be given to the captain of the winning team.
A manager of the ECB was quoted by Cricbuzz: “Yes, there is a confirmed plan to keep the Pataudi link in the England-India series.”
In particular, the unveiling of the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy ceremony was planned for day 4 of the final WTC 2025 between Australia and South Africa in Lord’s, but it was postponed due to the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad which made more than 275 lives.

History of India vs England in the rivalry of tests
Meanwhile, India against England in Test Cricket is one of the oldest and most intense rivalries of the game. It all started in 1932 in Lord’s when India played its very first test match. Since then, the two teams clashed several times. For India, playing in England has always been a great challenge.
Out of 19 series of tests played in England, India managed to win only three-in 1971, 1986 and 2007. England, on the other hand, won 14, while two ended with a draw, including the exciting 2-2 series in 2021-2022. The balanced conditions of England and the green terrains have often disturbed the Indian strikers.
India has faced some of their worst test losses in England, including 5-0 defeat in 1959 and 4-0 defeat in 2011. Over the years, India-Angleterre rivalry has become stronger, each match bearing pride, history and hunger to prove who is better in the longest format of the game.
