Rohit Sharma makes history, becomes first Asian to smash 150 sixes in SENA countries

Former Indian skipper Rohit Sharma responded to his critics with a spectacular half-century in Adelaide. The veteran fly-half’s conscious hitting under pressure saw him take calculated risks and hit the ball just twice over the boundary ropes. This led Rohit to a new record of six hits, a record he chases quite often for India.
India takes on world champions Australia in a three-match ODI series. The series marks India’s preparation for the next World Cup to be held in South Africa in 2027. Indian veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are eager to try their luck in the World Cup with a strong performance in these matches.
After a not-so-impressive start to the tournament, Rohit and Virat fail; the new skipper, Shubman Gill, lost his first match as captain and the bowlers did not hit the right spots which led to a very complicated situation.

Rohit Sharma sets new SENA record with Adelaide
Indian opener Rohit Sharma has been known as a serial six-hitter throughout his career. Having played 275* ODI matches, the former Indian captain has hit 346* sixes for India in the ODI format alone. Rohit already occupies the position of the highest six-hitter for India, ahead of MS Dhoni by a huge margin of almost 120 sixes.
Apart from being India’s best six-hitter, he is also the second-best six-hitter in the ODI format in the world, with only former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi behind him. Rohit is anyway 6 six points away from overtaking the former Pakistan skipper.
Playing for India in Adelaide, Rohit hit two sixes off Mitchell Owen which took him to another ODI milestone. The opener now has 150 sixes in SENA countries, the only Asian hitter and the second visiting hitter after Chris Gayle to achieve this record.
Sharma slams critics after promising show in Adelaide, prepares for 2027 World Cup competition
After his flop in Perth, however, the veteran Indian batter continued to be supported by former Indian stars; he was continually criticized for his lack of runs. Although Rohit scored a superb 79 in the Champions Trophy final, critics doubted his ability to continue till the next World Cup.
Rohit Sharma was asked to get more game time, and he did, as he took part in all the optional sessions ahead of the second ODI in Adelaide. He scored points with great courage even though the track seemed much more difficult to navigate.
Sharma scored 73 runs and led India’s innings at the top, leading to a strong comeback ahead of the ICC World Cup 2027. He was dismissed disappointingly by Mitchell Starc, who returned for his second stint.
Virat Kohli dismissed for consecutive ducks for the first time in his ODI career
For the first time in his 304-match ODI career, Indian veteran Virat Kohli was dismissed for back-to-back ducks in back-to-back matches. With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli battling for a place in the World Cup squad, this marked a major setback for Kohli.
Virat fell short of runs after his return to the longest format of white-ball cricket, and while he made strange gestures, acknowledging his fans, they speculated about his retirement. However, from India’s point of view, they would love to see Virat return to form and so would Rohit Sharma.
