A robot referee, propelled by automated technology and used for the first time during an MLB All-Star game, helped to reverse four ball calls / strike, reports the CBC. Only one call, Marlins outfall, Kyle Stowers, did not lead to a call modification after the contribution of the automated ball ball system.
“The ABS system powered by the 5G network of T-Mobile uses the Hawk-Eye system to follow the trajectory and the location of a step to relay an immediate verdict on the fact that it was a ball or a strike,” notes the MLB.
