Resident Evil: Requiem’s trailer shows a fresh look at the background of Grace Ashcroft, but where is Leon?

The live broadcast of the opening evening tonight gave us a new look at Resident Evil: the protagonist of Requiem Grace Ashcroft, but no sign from Leon S. Kennedy, preferred by fans.

As expected, today’s show has brought a deeper dive into the next horror of upcoming survival of Capcom (which is also playable here in Gamescom). Images have once again shown the new star of the Grace Ashcroft game in action, although fans have wondered about where Leon.

After a telephone call in an unknown voice, Grace Ashcroft and his mother Alyssa try to escape from the hotel in which they had remained, because the power is cut and the pair is attacked. We already know what is happening next, because Grace is seen investigating the hotel years later, as an analyst of the FBI.

Capcom previously promised that Requiem will offer a return to the “global story” of the series “30 years ago, after more recent games such as Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village have focused on events that take place elsewhere, with fewer links with previous titles. Already, fans had noticed the return of Raccoon City and references to the Shadow Umbrella Corporation, while hoping more, including a first observation of Leon.

“We have always thought of making Leon the protagonist,” said Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi, “but making a horror game around him is difficult. He would not jump on a falling bucket.

Many fans have taken this comment to signify that Leon was still in the game somewhere, probably in sequences that offered a more oriented gameplay, because while indicating that the character would not suit the horror sections, Nakanishi notably stopped to govern the character.

There is still a lot of time until Resident Evil Requiem finally launched on February 27, 2026.
