The Australian singer, who married Billy Ray Cyrus in October 2023 before splitting seven months later — accused the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer of “narcissistic abuse” more than a year after finalizing their divorce.
“In your 20s you will meet a 49 year old man who will convince you that you are his soulmate…” Firerose wrote in a video posted to Instagram on December 4 before images of her and Billy Ray together surfaced. “It’s very important that you don’t believe it.”
The 34-year-old man, his real name: Johanna Rosie Hodgesalso alluded to the abuse she claims she suffered during their relationship.
“If you are a survivor of narcissistic abuse, you are not alone,” she wrote. “It’s scary how similar the experiences of survivors are. Behind closed doors, it’s always the same playbook. Control, isolation, rage, manipulation, walking on eggshells, cognitive dissonance, feeling like the only person in the world who can experience who you are.”
E! News reached out to Billy Ray’s rep but received no comment.
