John Boyega revealed what he would have done if he had control of the trilogy of the suite of “Star Wars”.
Boyega, who played Finn of Stormtrooper who has become resistance in “The Force Awakens”, “The Last Jedi” and “The Rise of Skywalker”, said his reluctance with the Disney management of the trilogy in the past. Now he revealed how he would have changed the story in a galaxy, far, far.
“If I was a producer on Star Wars from the start, you would have had a completely different thing,” said Boyega in response to a fan question at Florida Supercon (via Popverse). First and foremost, he would not have killed Han Solo and Luke Skywalker. Here is what he had to say about this:
“It would be crazy. First of all, we don’t get rid of Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, all these people. We are not doing that. The first thing we are going to do is to achieve their story, to achieve their inheritance. We are going to do a good time to get back to the stick.”
“The Last Jedi” sparked a fierce debate and a controversy among the Fandom when he hit theaters in 2017. Han Solo by Harrison Ford died in the third act of “Force Awakens”, which means that he could never meet on the screen with Luke. Boyega would have addressed the characters inherited differently, it seems.
Speaking further, Boyega seemed to approach the accusations of “Mary Sue” against Rey by Daisy Ridley. Some fans believed that she was mastered and had picked up her Jedi powers too quickly. Although Boyega did not name it directly, he suggested that the new characters should not be so powerful on the jump.
“Our new characters will not be OP’D [overpowered] In these films. They won’t just take things and don’t know what to do with them. No. You have to fight like all the other characters in this franchise. I would do that. “”
The following trilogy of John Boyega Star Wars would be radically different
Whether the specific things that Boyega tries or not to solve are problems in the minds of each spectator, it is difficult to maintain that the following trilogy was serious. Even Hamill challenged Luke’s story in “Last Jedi” before finally taking over these comments. The biggest problem is that a very vocal and toxic minority of “Star Wars” fans began to dominate the online conversation. Everything has become very ugly at points.
In any case, there are surely many fans who would buy what Boyega sells – which does not stop there. The actor continued with his field, saying that he was drawing other documents, including the era “The Old Republic” and even video games “The Force Unleashed”:
“I would turn to the ancient stories of the Republic and see what we can add to the continuation of this. I would certainly want to see the strength that unleashes stories in there. I would try to widen the Star Wars universe as much as possible while respecting tradition. If we broaden tradition, we must do it within the respective limits that remain true.”
“But Luke Skywalker would not disappear on a rock,” added Boyega. “Hell no. Standing there and he is, like a projector? I would like to give more.”
I am certainly not there to open a debate to know if these ideas are good or bad. It is simply interesting that someone so close to the films is now so vocal on the quantity, in his opinion, Disney and Lucasfilm have dropped the ball. It is a rich avenue for the discussion because the next era of “Star Wars” is almost on us.
Next year will see the release of “The Mandalorian & Grogu”, which adapts the Disney + TV program for the big screen. Then we have “Star Wars: Starfighter” with Ryan Gosling, who is currently in production for an release in 2027. This film will take place in a new era, about five years after “The Rise of Skywalker”.
