Arsenal are considered one of the best teams in Europe, but they could part ways with a key player next summer. In recent weeks, it has been reported that Barcelona are interested in bringing Martin Odegaard back to Spain, as they look to add more creativity to their star-studded midfield.
Odegaard has started to lose his importance at Arsenal, due to a number of injury problems he has faced. However, the Emirates still rely heavily on him.
Arsenal have no plans to authorize the sale of Martin Odegaard
According to Football Insider, Pete O’Rourke has confirmed that Arsenal have no plans to entertain offers for Odegaard.
“I don’t see any chance of him leaving Arsenal. Obviously it’s been a mixed start to the season for Odegaard due to injuries. He’s had a few worrying injuries which have meant he hasn’t played as often as he could.
“If Martin Odegaard is fit, I think he starts in this Arsenal team for me. We know Mikel Arteta has a wealth of options in his team now. He probably has the strongest team in the Premier League at the moment with so many options, strength and depth now at the Emirates, but Odegaard is still a key man for me.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Barcelona were interested in Martin Odegaard. Most of the big clubs in Europe would be interested in Martin Odegaard. He is a top player, he showed that at Arsenal in the last two seasons as well, but there are so many questions, how could Barcelona even afford Martin Odegaard with all their financial problems.
“He’s under contract until 2028, so he would cost quite a bit if Arsenal were to consider selling them, but that’s not even part of their thinking either. They want to keep Martin Odegaard, they want to build their team around him and being the club captain there shows how important he is to Mikel Arteta’s plans.”
It makes perfect sense for Odegaard to stay at Arsenal, given that he is the club’s captain. He hopes to win the Premier League title at the end of this season and then remain in Mikel Arteta’s team for years to come.
