AMES, IA – A disastrous first quarter got worse for BYU football when Big 12 leader LJ Martin entered the medical tent after his final carry of the period.
The Cougars started the second quarter with a score of 17-7.
The No. 11 Cougars take on the Iowa State Cyclones at Jack Trice Stadium on Saturday, October 25.

After being briefly looked to the side, Martin left the blue tent and headed to the locker room with the medical staff. The FOX broadcast reported that Martin was out for the rest of the day.
His loss puts significant pressure on true freshman Bear Bachmeier to carry the offense.

Iowa State threw a 75-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage, setting a tone the Cougars have yet to match.
BYU responded with a goal, but its defense struggled against the Cyclones’ massive rushing attack.
ISU outgained the Cougars 192 yards to 81 in the first 15 minutes. BYU was assessed three penalties and failed to convert on its only third down attempt.
