Alyssa Farah Griffin Guess Why Hegseth Is Really Coming for Mark Kelly

After the collapse of criminal cases against former FBI chief James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James this week, the Trump administration is now going after Sen. Mark Kelly, but “The View” host Alyssa Farah Griffin doesn’t expect this new case to hold up much. In fact, the ABC host has an idea why Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is actually doing this.
To kick off the day’s Hot Topics, “The View” hosts expressed faux sympathy for the Trump administration having a bad day in court yesterday, and celebrated the fact that both cases were dismissed. They then turned their attention to Kelly’s case, which followed the senator’s participation in a video with other Democratic lawmakers that encouraged members of the military to refuse to follow illegal orders.
Farah Griffin immediately said she didn’t imagine it would go very far, especially since the language used in the video was very specific. In reality, she thinks this affair comes from something else entirely.
“I think the moment where Pete Hegseth really takes on a distinguished veteran like Mark Kelly comes from him being left out of the Ukraine negotiations,” she explained. “He’s nowhere to be found in the discussions. In fact, one of his deputies, Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll, has emerged as something of a power player in this area.”
So, according to Farah Griffin, Hegseth is simply trying to regain Trump’s attention and affection.
“I think he’s doing it to try to get along with Trump, to say ‘Look, I’m fighting your fights for you,’ but it’s going to play out very similar to how these Comey and Letitia James cases played out,” she said.
“Where, when you do something and there doesn’t seem to be any merit to it, it’s going to fall apart, the president is going to be angry and you’re going to be embarrassed,” she continued.
“The View” airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
