According to Sky Sport Italia, Ruben Loftus-Cheek is also a major injury doubt for AC Milan, who were decimated against Fiorentina.

It kicks off at the San Siro on Sunday at 7:45 p.m. UK time (6:45 p.m. GMT).

The Rossoneri had already had a lot of problems, having to do without Adrien Rabiot, Christian Pulisic, Pervis Estupinan and Ardon Jashari.

It was reported today that Christopher Nkunku is struggling after a knock on international duty and will not be available.

Now Sky Sport Italia claims Loftus-Cheek was due to start, but he too is not 100% fit after feeling a muscle tightness during the last training session.

There will be a fitness test on Sunday before a decision is made, but the chances of the England international starting are now slim.

This means Milan could play Rafael Leao as a centre-forward with support from Alexis Saelemaekers, with neither of them fully fit after muscle injuries.

Indeed, Santiago Gimenez could remain on the bench for the second half, returning from international duty while Mexico was feeling tired.

Zachary Athekame and Davide Bartesaghi are even options for more advanced roles, given they would typically be considered full-backs.

Alex Jimenez has only just returned to full training with the team and may not be taking any chances either.

Milan probable (3-5-1-1): Maignan; Pavlovic, Tomori, Gabbia, Pavlovic; Athékamé, Ricci, Modric, Fofana, Bartesaghi; Saelemaekers; Leao
