The former goalkeeper of Manchester United, David de Gea, opens with the failure of Real Madrid Move

David de Gea said that he will not disclose the complete history of his failed transfer to Real Madrid before his retirement, although he thinks that the result was ultimately for better.
The Spaniard was on the verge of a manchester United move to Madrid on the day of the deadline in the summer of 2015, but the agreement collapsed due to late documents.
Now playing for Fiorentina, the veteran goalkeeper has thought about the saga in an interview with Italian Outlet Cronache Di Spogliatoio.
“I’m going to talk about all this when my career is over. When things don’t happen, that’s for a reason,” he said. “It was close but the transfer was not finished … Personally, it went well because Manchester is my house.”
De Gea joined United from Atlético Madrid in 2011 and became one of the club’s most coherent artists, winning the Premier League in 2012-13 under Sir Alex Ferguson.
During his 12 -year stay, he raised several other major trophies, including FA Cup (2016), Europa League (2017) and Carabao Cup twice (2017 and 2023).

In the end, it did not happen and I think that some things happen for a reason: I stayed in Manchester and I was happy. »» @Cronachetweet pic.twitter.com/m5dxmabgac

He made 545 appearances for the Red Devils before leaving the club in 2023 at the end of his contract.
After a year of football, from Gea signed for Fiorentina in 2024 as a free agent. He described the rupture as a mentally and physically transformer.
“It was one of the best years of my life,” he said. “This sabbatical year made me a world of good, both mentally and physically: I felt a little jaded. I felt that it was time to stop and come back stronger and it went well.”
Despite the reception of offers to stay in the Premier League, from Gea explained that joining another English club has never been an option.
“It is true that I had offers from other English clubs, but in my heart, it was impossible to play for another club. I only wanted to play for United because it is the club where I developed, where I was during most of my career and I had a very good career there. I also had offers from other countries. ”
At 34, from Gea seems to have found a second wind in Italy. He kept 11 clean sheets out of 42 appearances last season and recently committed his future in Fiorentina by signing a new contract which will maintain him at the club until June 2028.
