San Gennaro starts in Little Italy drawing thousands of people at the New York annual celebration

Little Italy, Manhattan (WABC) – San Gennaro’s party is underway, and there was a great time for the first weekend.

The annual celebration is expected to bring thousands of people to Mulberry Street to celebrate Italian cuisine, culture and music.

The festivities start at the intersection of the canal and Mulberry streets and run deep in the heart of little Italy.

“When you come to San Gennaro’s party, everyone is Italian!” said chef Francesco Giuseppe.

There was a pizza that came out of the Giuseppe oven.

This is a first for some – Victoria is from Colombia.

“The pasta was the best I got in my life! So good,” she said.

She talks about the cacio e pepe. Executive chef Mike Dileo Cuisine with Parmesan Reggiano – bringing the flavor to San Gennaro.

“99 years of tradition, Italian cuisine, so many people every day. It’s just a good time,” said Dileo.

There is no better representation of Italian-American culture than from the feast of San Gennaro, but we would be negligent if we did not have a review of the Italians who moved to New York from Italy.

“I like New York. There is not really in Europe, except for London, which is similar, but New York is much better. There is not really such a big city. And you can find everything you want here,” said Mauricio.
