Deontay Wilder predicts top fight between Mike Tyson and Oleksandr Usyk: ‘We have to go with him’

Deontay Wilder has been linked to a surprising clash with Oleksandr Usyk in recent weeks, and ‘The Bronze Bomber’ has revealed how he thinks a fight between a top-ranked Mike Tyson and his potential opponent would have gone.
Wilder has lost four of his last six matches and was past his best in recent losses to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang, looking strangely disconcerted in the ring on both occasions.
Yet unified heavyweight ruler Usyk has named Wilder as his ideal opponent for 2026, offering the Tuscaloosa-born knockout artist a chance to return to the throne – a chance Wilder believes he is capable of winning.
While talks for Usyk-Wilder are ongoing, recent news regarding a fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua makes the American the most lucrative option available for Usyk, making him an understandable choice for a voluntary defense.
‘The Bronze Bomber’ has now given his views on how he thinks Usyk would have fared against boxing legend Mike Tyson, who still holds the honor of being the youngest heavyweight champion of the world in history.
Speaking to Daily Mail Sport, Wilder was full of praise for the Ukrainian, picking him to beat a top-ranked Tyson in a fantastic fight.
“Right now we have to go with Oleksandr Usyk [to beat Mike Tyson].”
Wilder then said he thought Muhammad Ali would have gotten the better of Usyk, but also said Ali would have beaten every heavyweight past and present when he was at his best.
