Outyering of the New York Metro: Loss of power to West 4th Street invites several delays and MTA cancellations during AM journeys

New York (WABC) – Tuesday morning, there were serious delays and cancellations through the metro system due to a loss of power to a signaling system in West 4th Street.

The MTA said it occurred shortly before 8:30 am and that they are investigating if they are related to heat.

The officials claim that the low power had an impact on the signal system and that the signals went red, or to stop, preventing the trains from continuing.

The crews were still resetting the signals.

Eyewitness News is informed that it seems that one of the breaking are triggered, but the crews still investigate what has finally led to serious delays.

For most runners, the biggest impacts were the A / B / C / D / E / F / M. train lines

Public transport officials oversee recovery efforts, but it was a disorderly trip so far on Tuesday morning.

The president of NYC Transit, Demetrius Crichlow, said that even if there was no power in the signals, there was still power in the trains and therefore the passengers of the delayed trains had the air conditioning.

“We were able to reset one of the circuit breakers in the region and the service is therefore starting to resume at this stage,” said Crichlow. “The teams are there on the slopes. You can see a lot of activities here. The teams are here resetting the signals to be able to move and run the trains for the start of the afternoon.”

Tuesday 2 p.m., the MTA said that there were still serious delays on line D and delays on the A / C / E / B / F / F / M.
