YouTube will restore the channels forbidden for COVVI and electoral disinformation

It is not exactly difficult to find politically conservative content on YouTube, but the platform could soon be even more right. The Youtube parent alphabet has confirmed that it will restore the channels that have been prohibited in recent years to spread disinformation on the COVVI-19 and the elections. Alphabet says that it values freedom of expression and political debate, putting the blame for its decisions of previous moderation on the Biden administration.
Alphabet made this announcement via a long letter to the representative Jim Jordan (R-Ohio). The letter, a response to the assignments to appear from the Chamber’s Judicial Committee, explains in uncertain terms that the company adopts a more relaxed approach to moderate the political content on YouTube.
To start, Alphabet denies that its products and services are biased towards specific points of view and that it “appreciates responsibility” provided by the Committee. The disgusting missive explains that Google did not really want to ban all these accounts, but those responsible for the Biden administration did not stop asking. Now that the political tables have turned, Google seeks to withdraw from this hole.
According to the version of alphabet events, disinformation such as people say to drink bleach to heal Covid was not initially against his policies. However, Biden officials asked YouTube several times to take action. YouTube prohibited disinformation covers until 2024, a year more than the repression of electoral conspiracy theories. Alphabet says that today, the rules of YouTube allow a “wider range of content”.
In an apparent attempt to smooth things with the Judicial Committee of the Chamber Controlled by the Republican, YouTube will restore the prohibited channels for covid and electoral disinformation. This includes eminent conservatives like Dan Bongino, who is now the deputy director of the FBI, and the head of the fight against terrorism of the White House, Sebastian Gorka.
