YouTube TV adds more local television stations

YouTube TV, a first streaming service for cord cuts, announced a significant expansion of its range of local channels, adding several new CW affiliates to the United States. This decision improves the commitment of the platform to provide regional content to its subscribers, providing access to local news, sports and entertainment. Among the newly added stations are WVir-DT3 (Charlottesville, VA), KLCW (Lubbock, TX), Kten-DT2 (ADA, OK), KCWT (LA CROSS, WLFI) (Lafayette, IN) and WJBF-DT3 (Augsta, GA). This was spotted by a recruited Reddit post. This expansion is based on the current efforts of YouTube TV to expand its local offers, following a 2023 agreement with Nexstar Media Group which brought nearly 60 CW stations on the platform.

Wvir-DT3, a CW affiliate in Charlottesville, in Virginia, is expected to be launched on TV Youtube by the end of July 2025. Operated by Gray Television, this station serves the Charlottesville market with a mixture of popular CW programs, including dramas like All American and Walker, alongside local news and content focused on the community. The addition of WVir-DT3 guarantees that viewers of the Virginia Center can benefit from a national and regional program adapted to their region.

KLCW, Lubbock Broadcasting, Texas, is another CW affiliate joining the YouTube TV list. This station offers a mixture of entertainment, sports and local news relevant to the region of western Texas. Known for its coverage of secondary school and community events, KLCW strengthens the attraction of YouTube TV to viewers looking for hyper-local content.

Kten-DT2, based in ADA, in Oklahoma, is a CW sub-channel which completes the NBC affiliation of its parent station. It offers the CW signature range of young and engaging shows, alongside regional news and meteorological updates, addressing viewers in southern Oklahoma and in certain parts of Northern Texas.

At La Crosse, Wisconsin, Kcwt provides CW programming to the flowing region. Operated as a CW affiliate, KCWT provides a mixture of entertainment and local content, including coverage of regional events and news, improving the imprint of YouTube TV in the Midwest.

WLFI-DT2, a CW sub-channel in Lafayette, Indiana, serves the Grand Lafayette region with the CW entertainment slate and local programming. This station, owned by Heartland Media, is known for its community commitment and its regional sports coverage.

This expansion reflects the strategy of YouTube TV to compete with traditional cable cavities by offering more than 130 channels, including a robust selection of local affiliates. Subscribers can access these channels via the DVR Cloud function of YouTube TV, which offers unlimited storage and broadcast on several devices. The addition of these stations underlines the commitment of YouTube TV to provide personalized content and specific to the region at its growing subscriber base.
