For the first time in 13 years, India will bat in the second innings after forcing the follow-on. The last time this happened was in November 2012 against England, when India had to come back to bat in the fourth innings after making the opposition follow.

Since that 2012 test, India has imposed tracking several times, but this is the first time in more than a decade that it itself has had to fight again after enforcing it.

Here is a list of measures the Indian Test team has implemented since 2012:

July 21, 2016 – Sir Vivian Richards Stadium: India beat West Indies by an innings and 92 runs.

August 3, 2017 – Sinhalese Sports Club Ground: India beat Sri Lanka by an innings and 53 runs.

August 12, 2017 – Pallekele International Cricket Stadium: India dominated Sri Lanka, winning by an innings and 171 runs.

June 14, 2018 – M Chinnaswamy Stadium: India crushed Afghanistan by an innings and 262 runs.

October 4, 2018 – Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium: India dominated the West Indies, winning by an innings and 272 runs.

October 10, 2019 – Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium: India beat South Africa by an innings and 137 runs.

October 19, 2019 – JSCA International Stadium Complex: India beat South Africa again, this time by an innings and 202 runs.

March 4, 2022 – Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium: India dominated Sri Lanka, winning by an innings and 222 runs.
