Wyndham Clark, criticized by the public after a club throw during the PGA championship this weekend, apologized for his actions.

“As professionals,” Clark posted on X on Monday, “we have to stay professional even when they are frustrated and I unfortunately let my emotions take over me.”

Standing on the tee box of the 16th hole hollow in Charlotte on Sunday, Clark broke out by car in a fairway bunker. The former 31-year-old champion of the United States then launched his club backwards the Tee box, slamming her head as she crashed into signaling with a volunteer standing a few meters away.

Clark continued in Bogey on the 16th – his seventh of the day – en route to a 3 against 74. He finished the championship in 50th place at 4.

Clark posted on X on Monday that he wanted to “sincerely apologize” for his behavior.

“My actions were not called and completely inappropriate, which clearly shows that I have things that I have to work on,” said Clark. “I stand at a high level, trying to always play for something bigger than me, and the day again [sic] I fell below these standards. For that, I’m really sorry. I promise to improve the way I manage my frustrations on the course in the future, and I hope you can all forgive me in due time. “”

Since he was equal to fifth place in Texas Children’s Houston Open in early March, Clark had trouble, no better than equality for the 27th in his last four tournaments.

Clark spoke publicly about his mental health and his impact on his career, in particular to be transparent on his experiences of sorrow and anger management after the death of his mother of breast cancer a little over 10 years.
