WWE Veteran Calls Tony Khan ‘Idiot’ For How He Booked Former World Champion (Exclusive)

A WWE veteran is unhappy with the way Tony Khan booked a former world champion. He attacked the AEW boss.
Vince Russo is the latest to criticize Tony Khan’s booking decisions. Chris Jericho has been a regular fixture on AEW TV since the company launched in 2019. He was the first world champion and has been involved in many iconic storylines. Even though his physical appearance has diminished over the years and he appears to be a shell of his former self at age 54, he was booked to win the ROH World Title last year.
Speaking on a recent episode of Writing with Russo, the former WWE writer and Chris Featherstone discussed Chris Jericho’s physical ability in the ring. Vince Russo pointed out that if Jericho returned to sports entertainment heavyweight, he wouldn’t be able to do anything physical. Chris Featherstone disagreed with Russo and pointed out that Jericho just won a world title last year. The former WWE writer then called Tony an “idiot” for booking Jericho to win the ROH World Title.
“That’s because Tony Khan is an idiot. I mean, Chris Jericho didn’t look good,” Russo said.
Tony Khan recently addressed Chris Jericho’s AEW status
Chris Jericho was an instrumental part of AEW’s roster during the company’s early years. However, in recent months he has not been seen on television, leaving fans wondering if he was leaving the company. Jericho has also teased his return to WWE with his social media posts.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Tony Khan acknowledged Jericho’s contributions to AEW, but did not provide a concrete answer regarding his status in the company.
“I love Chris Jericho. He’s a big part of AEW. He’s been here since the beginning and I think we’ll see what happens here in the months to come. But Chris is always welcome, a big part of AEW that we would always want to have here. I’m absolutely very grateful to Chris Jericho for everything he’s done,” Khan said. [H/T – 411Mania]
It remains to be seen when Chris Jericho will return from his current hiatus.
