Dale Lolley loved her family. He was dedicated to baseball for young people, both as a member of the board of directors and coach of the Pony League of the County of Washington and with his involvement in the Pony League World Series. He loved music, could cite George Harrison’s lyrics or sing when his selection of Jam Pearl Jam played on the Juke-Box. He was a diligent journalist, who could do everything, from writing to publishing to set up the sports section of the morning newspaper.
And he also had a passion. Writing and talking about Pittsburgh’s Steelers.
“I spent more than half of my life to cover the team. If I do not write about them, I talk about it. That’s what I do,” wrote Dale for Steelers.com in 2022. Team on other platforms, I will do it regularly with the Steelers on their media platforms, which includes writing on the team all year round.
Dale Lolley, husband, father, friend, journalist who has become a full contributor to all the media platforms of the Steelers, died on Wednesday September 17 after a battle against cancer. He was 56 years old.
Mr. Lolley was born in the City of the County of Clarion de Fryburg, Pennsylvania, in 1968. A graduate of the secondary school North Clarion in 1986, Mr. Lolley began as an adult in biology at Pitt-Toutsville for 2 and a half years before the transfer to Pitt-Johnstown and graduated in 1991.
His first job outside the university was as a sports editor at Derrick, a daily life in Oil City, Pennsylvania. He regularly contributed to Steelers Digest, the official publication of the team, starting with its creation in 1988, and began as a filling for the Steelers Radio Network emissions from 2008.
In 2014, Mr. Lolley was invited to join Steelers Nation Radio, a new project that brought the team into digital radio, and he was combined with Matt Williamson to make “SNR Drive with Dale & Matt” a very popular podcast of five days a week which was informative and engaging.
In September 2022, Mr. Lolley joined the Steelers as a contributory writer / publisher, which involved everything, from the coverage of all the team matches – at home and on the road – to the broadcast of the NFL combines and meetings of the owners of the NFL, in the participation each time as the President of Steelers, or a coach, or a quarter, The new recovery n ° 1 Stepped unit to a live microphone and a peak of choice. Mr. Lolley is survived by his wife, Amy, and children Noah, Tanner and Madeline.
During his stay with the Steelers, Mr. Lolley made the radio, made videos, helped birth and develop a podcast, even made a video version of this podcast. But in his soul, he was a writer. On the deadline for a reinforced helicopter press box, or a Super Bowl media room where he had just done an exclusive interview with the new member of the Hall of Fame Elu Polamalu, Dale Lolley was a writer.
