Women help shape the world of cinema since its inception, and the last two decades have experienced real importance, with strong directors offering revolutionary work. Here is our list of some of the best directed films that you can broadcast on Netflix right now.

Wayne’s world

Wayne’s world is one of the best films to come from a Saturday Night Live sketch. The film follows the adventures of two Airheads who love music (Wayne and Garth) whose surrealist television show of public access attracts the attention of a large television producer. However, the show that will threaten to change the life of its hosts on and out of the screen, which is particularly bad for Wayne while he tries to win the girl from his dreams.

Made by Penelope Spheeris, the film slips perfectly to the edge of self -awareness without preventing it. The result is a film that launches everything, from public access to the record industry, generating laughter from really bizarre punchlines. In addition, watching the film looks like spending time with two of your most stupid friends. Venom: the last dance

Bird is a film that proves that the old adage is true: horror is at its best when it is motivated by concepts as simple as frightening. In this post-apocalyptic film, mysterious beings spread throughout the planet, and simply watch them causes madness and suicidal impulses. The old guard

The old guard Adapts the series of comics of the same name of the superstar scribe Greg Rucka. He follows the adventures of a group of warriors who have Wolverine type healing capacities. Due to these capacities, they are apparently immortal. These characters are trying to find and protect someone who only recently manifested their own capacities. Unfortunately, a large number of shaded shadows try to find our heroes and use them for his own harmful research ends.

Enter the bad hands, this film could have looked like a generic slope of superheroes. Fortunately, the director Gina Prince-Bythewood helps to give the film a style and a verve that make him very distinct from the usual Marvel and DC price. In addition, Charlize Theron gives an impressive effortless performance, and she is a great reason why this original superhero film ended up getting a suite. Although this sequel is solid, it cannot beat this first film with regard to the construction of the world and characterization.

Oh mom!

Oh mom! is a crazy film with an even crazier premise. A young woman is about to get married and wants her father to walk in the aisle. Unfortunately, his mother had a romantically adventurous past and does not know exactly who is the father. Therefore, the future bride takes matters into hand by inviting the three possible dads to marriage. Of course, this “solution” launches many more problems for her and her mother, which take place all in a hilarious way, all on Abba songs.

For many suffering from anxiety about family issues, the intrigue of Oh mom! could easily be a horror film. But director Phyllida Lloyd keeps light things, exploiting all kinds of humor in the labor of the crazy story of this romantic comedy. And thanks to this distribution of big names (including Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Amanda Seyfried), each scene positively buzzes with talent.

Time woman

There are few genres as popular now as real crime. Time woman Taps in our collective fascination for macabre, focusing on the strange case of Rodney Alcala, a man who appeared on The meeting game Before being arrested a year later and revealed as a brutal serial killer. And the film alternates between scenes from her horrible crimes and scenes of trying to court a young woman in a reality show where she must choose the best match among possible suitors.

This woman is played by Anna Kendrick, and Time woman is also his beginnings as a director. In fact, she is just as talented behind the camera as in front of her, adding drama and tension to a story that was already quite frightening. The result is a film that uses both those who love real crime and those who love a well -constructed and closely rhythmic horror film, which is very different (in all the best manners) of classic horror films of the 80s.

Holidays

In other words, Holidays is a romantic comedy for those who generally do not appreciate this kind of film. The intrigue implies two women from the opposite sides of the pond (one of the, the other of Surrey, in England) who decide to fight sorrow in a very unconventional way: by temporarily exchanging houses. In the fashion of traditional genres, they meet each of the potential contenders who could transform this into a holiday season without remembering. Unfortunately, Back Home’s drama threatens to derail every woman’s chance to create a new life.

The writer and director Nancy Meyers helps to breathe new life into a genre that had become a little outdated. She does it with the help of a killer casting who includes Jack Black, who takes his usual brand of exaggerated comedy of a few notches. His more dim lighting helps other tracks (Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz and Jude Law) shine as they create a story about how disorderly romance can really be. And almost two decades later, this film always stands out as one of the best modern romantic comedies ever made.

Fear Street Part One: 1994

Fear Street Part One: 1994 is the first part of a trilogy that vaguely adapts the books written by Goosebumps Scribe RL Stine. While the Goosebumps Books were a slight horror for young children, the Street Fear The books were written for an older audience. Interestingly, this first film is more brutal than any of Stine’s books, detailing the history of teenagers from the 90s trying to keep a step ahead of an old curse. What they discover can completely change their lives, but that assumes that they survive all monstrous chaos threatening to kill them.

The director Leigh Janiak gives the film a funny feeling, and horror fans of a certain age will certainly appreciate this loving recreation (although imperfect) of the 90s. She also did an excellent job by creating a film which can be held alone while presenting the complex mythology required to fully understand the following two films. Certainly, Street Fear is better appreciated as part of a complete trilogy. But watching this first film is a great way to know if you want to make the whole walk or simply descend after the first film (and probably the best) of the series, which proves why it was a streaming film that deserved a sequel.
