Configuration and play the configuration
Configuration is a simple three -step process, the only warning being that it will not work on ferrous metal desktops. The first step is to place the fabric game mouse cushion on the PowerPlay 2 base. The second step is to connect the cable from the PowerPlay 2 base in a USB-A port to your computer or any other USB-A power source, with the advantage for the first being that your PowerPlay 2 will feed when your computer will do it. The third and last step is to remove the existing door on the underside of your compatible mouse and replace it with the PowerPlay 2 part included, which clings magnetically.
When the power supply is applied to the PowerPlay 2 base, the white light below the upper case remains lit when it actively loads a mouse. You can check the battery condition in the usual utility software for your mouse, Logitech G Hub for Windows or MacOS. For the health and longevity of the batteries, the PowerPlay 2 maintains a mouse below a load of 90%.
I use the PowerPlay 2 with a Logitech G502 x plus Lightpeed mouse, which works in the same way as any other compatible mouse. The PowerPlay 2 is just billed, so I need to use the existing USB-A Lightspeed Wireless receiver for my mouse for real connectivity to my Windows 11 desk. The only way to rationalize the number of USB ports you use on your computer, in addition to plug the PowerPlay 2 in a distinct USB-A power source like me, it is also if you also use something TKL G915 X Lightspeed keyboard from Logitech, which has a receiver that can associate two devices at a time.
You need to use the mouse game mouse in soft fabric included so that this configuration works. The sticky support of the mouse pad does a very good job to stay on the PowerPlay 2 base. The base itself has a rubber back which also does a reasonable job to stay there, although I find that it slides a little on my desk if I push it in the wrong direction. For the normal use of the mouse, however, the two components generally remain in place.
The mouse cushion itself is smooth but textured. This is what I would consider as a slow mouse surface, so a mouse like the G502 X plus Lightspeed moves at a rather pedestrian pace. It is not necessarily a bad thing because it helps the daily precision of flies. However, I would not want to play a quick game on this type of surface unless I use it with a mouse like the hyperx wireless gaming mouse, which tends to move too quickly on harder and smaller mouse cushion surfaces.
As indicated, nothing prevents you from using an incompatible mouse on this mouse cushion. He simply will not charge. Likewise, you can place another mouse cushion on the basis of around 13×17 inches, but you will not be able to load an otherwise compatible mouse. Logitech himself does not offer additional mouse pads for the moment, not even a replacement for the game mouse in mild fabric included.
Likewise, additional PowerPlay 2 parts are not available for purchase for the moment. It is quite easy to exchange the part between compatible Logitech mice, but it would always be good to have the option.
Differences compared to the Logitech g powerplay wireless load system
In one way or another, instead of improving the previous powerplay, the PowerPlay 2 is worse in almost all directions. The price of $ 120 was already difficult to swallow for a busy mouse cushion, but the removal of most of the features that caused the original food game to be worth the real head scratch.
The original food game included two different mouse pads, a tissue and a hard surface, each being rigid. Although the soft fabric mouse cushion included with the PowerPlay 2 is considerably thinner, I would say that this is not worth the compromise, even if the surface of the fabric is a little more pleasant than the previous version. Personally, I like to use a hard surface for most mouse activities because it is cool, gently and fast. Given the choice, I would only go to the fabric when I need additional precision. With the PowerPlay 2, I no longer have this option.
The PowerPlay included not only a removable cable, which facilitates the disconnection when I wanted to go out, but that also deleted the need for the wireless receiver of my mouse. As indicated, if you connect the PowerPlay 2 to a USB port on your computer, it takes up the port and provides no additional feature, a defined degradation.
Although the original PowerPlay has other features that are missing the PowerPlay 2, it is not so bad for the new model. For example, in addition to being a simpler configuration and a global product, PowerPlay 2 also has a 15% larger load area in the same imprint as its predecessor (although I never found that it was a problem on the old model). Be that as it may, it is a shame that Logitech not only suddenly deleted the original feeding game, but in fact provided a less value with its successor for the same price.
Should you buy the Logitech G Powerplay 2 wireless load system?
It is really free to never worry about loading your wireless mouse again. Limited compatibility and high entry cost for very little, however, make the Logitech G Powerplay 2 difficult to recommend Logitech G PowerPlay load system.
If you are a dedicated logitech enthusiast with a compatible Logitech G mouse and you don’t mind being limited to the mouse of mouse in mild fabric included, the PowerPlay 2 works well enough for its planned work. Unfortunately, Logitech himself showed how, with the original food game at the same price, this type of product could be, and do it, much more than it is.
