Winter weather alerts published for several states, including AP.
October has barely started, but already parts of Pennsylvania can feel a cold winter.
The National Weather Service of Binghamton has published an alert for gel warnings and freezing notices this week, with the affected area including several counties in the north and northeast of Pennsylvania.
“Gel and frost conditions could kill crops. Another sensitive vegetation, and perhaps damage unprotected outdoor plumbing,” read an article on the National Weather Service Binghamton’s Twitter page.
The cold in the northeast is only part of the winter time model of this week.
Newsweek reports that 8 states have been struck by similar winter weather alerts, including up to 6 inches of snow in several of them.
“The NWS warned that in Alaska, several inches of snow could lead to dangerous driving conditions, while in the northeast frost and frost conditions could damage external vegetation” reading the history of Newsweek.
Gel’s opinions have also been issued in parts of Colorado, as well as Vermont and New Hampshire.
But the Northeast, at least, should not remain so cold at the start of the season.
“After Thursday evening, we will be in a warmer spell and therefore no gel / gel conditions throughout the weekend at least in the middle of next week,” said Mark Pellerito of the National Weather Service, according to Newsweek. “In fact, the 1970s widespread at nearly 80 are planned for summits this weekend under full sun.”
