Winners of the Transilvania International Film Festival

The 24th edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival finished in Romania.

During the closing gala on Saturday evening at the National Theater of Cluj-Napoca, the British director Mahdi Fleifel To an unknown country won the TRANSILVANIA trophy, the first prize of the festival.

The film is described as an intense drama on two Palestinian refugees living in Athens, taken between small scams and the hope of a better life in Germany. In the midst of a climate of despair and moral compromise, one moved more deeply in a cycle of manipulation and exploitation of those around it.

“It was more a matter of survival than of narration. We had trouble for almost ten years to get there,” said Fleifel, adding in progress Israeli -Palestinian conflict: “The problem in Palestine is not the Palestinians, it is the occupation – and it must end.”

German director Noaz Deshe Xoftex won the price for the best achievement of € 3,500, sponsored by the Romanian Cultural Institute. The special prize for the special jury was given to the American director Julian Castronovo Beginnings (or, objects in the Domaine des debris, currently cataloged).
