William Saliba is ready to sign a new agreement in Arsenal

Arsenal should make a major boost with several reports suggesting that William Saliba will sign a new five -year contract.

The French international has entered the last 20 months of its existing agreement and has been linked to Real Madrid, accelerating the need to initiate talks in order to keep it in the Emirates.

The discussions have been continuing for several months and, according to athletics and Fabrizio Romano, have now reached a satisfactory end with Saliba on the point of signing an agreement which will see him remain in northern London until 2030 with a formal announcement due in the coming days.

Arsenal signed Saliba de Saint-Etienne in 2019 when he was a teenager and immediately returned it to France for a season’s loan spells with Nice and Marseille.

He finally pierced in the Premier League during the 2022/23 campaign and became one of the most coherent defenders in the elite.

Arsenal had the best defensive record in the league in the last two seasons with Saliba, which has made 51 appearances last quarter, forming a formidable partnership with the Brazilian Gabriel.

He is the last player to commit his long-term future in Arsenal, alongside Gabriel, Leandro Trossard, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly.
