Consider the caipinha as the daring Brazilian cousin of Daiquiri.

The two drinks share a simple trio of ingredients: fresh lime, sugar and a sugar cane spirit. But they separate both from the mind and the style. Where Daiquiri uses light, often clear and clean rum in the Cuban tradition, Capirinha is built on Cachaça, the national spirit of Brazil. Cachaça, distilled directly from fermented sugar cane juice, has a more rustic and grassy aroma with earthy shades that give cocktail its undoubted character.

And unlike Daiquiri, which generally only uses lime juice, caipirinha throws throughout the lime – pel, marrow and pulp – have launched with sugar to extract the oils from the zest and a soft bitterness that adds complexity.

  • 2 ounces alcohol

  • 1/2 of a fresh limeCut in neighborhoods
