2025 US GP dates, schedule, weather, UK start time and how to watch Sprint Weekend or stream F1 Austin race on Sky Sports | F1 News

Formula 1 crosses the Atlantic to begin a crucial phase of the 2025 world title race as the United States Grand Prix in Austin hosts the fourth sprint weekend of the season, live. Sky Sports F1.
First leg of a double schedule with the Mexico Grand Prix, then followed in November by trips to Brazil and Las Vegas, the series of races in the Americas could play a central role in the final outcome of this year’s Drivers’ Championship fight.
And it was a title battle that closed after drama and controversy on the streets of Singapore with Lando Norris cutting McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri’s lead to 22 points and the resurgent Max Verstappen reducing his deficit to 63 points.
A sprint weekend means there are a maximum of 33 drivers up for grabs at the Circuit of the Americas, making a fast start and consistency throughout the weekend particularly important for the three championship contenders.
With the constructors’ title now won and dusted in record time, McLaren will aim to both return to racing habits for the first time in four races and keep in check any on-track tension between Piastri and Norris after the pair banged wheels on the opening lap in Singapore.
Mercedes’ George Russell will again aim to be at the front after his impressive victory ahead of title contenders at the Marina Bay circuit, while Ferrari will be hoping the USA’s back-to-back showdown with Mexico will bring some joy to their disappointing season as they return to the scene of their last two wins from a year ago.
With Austin six hours behind the UK and Ireland, the US GP weekend represents a prime time viewing party for Sky Sports F1 viewers, headlined by the 56-lap race on Sunday, October 19 at 8 p.m.
US GP Circuit – Circuit of the Americas
Among the most recent permanent circuits to join the calendar over the past two decades, the Circuit of the Americas is certainly one of the best.
The undulating 3.4-mile, 20-turn track built on the outskirts of Austin quickly proved a hit with drivers when it debuted in 2021 as F1’s first custom-built home in the United States.
There was also a feeling of familiarity given that its track design was inspired by some of Europe’s most famous tracks.
An Esses section reminiscent of Silverstone’s legendary high-speed Maggotts and Becketts complex makes up turns three to six, while an inverted triple-apex challenge in the style of Istanbul Park’s turn eight and a Hockenheim-style arena section all feature in the thrilling counter-clockwise lap.
The circuit even has its own signature in the form of a steep climb up to the first corner, which has been the scene of many overtaking and controversial incidents over the past 13 years as drivers go wheel to wheel in the wide braking zone before descending back towards the Esses.
Weather for the US GP in Austin
The Texas capital is currently experiencing a heatwave, with early forecasts for F1 race week calling for high temperatures in the 30s and plenty of sunshine.
