Why fans of “summer that I have become pretty” cannot stop hay Jeremiah – and what it means for the end of the show

Regarding the love triangles, especially in the shows for adolescents, there is always a clear and The summer when I became pretty is no exception. The fans were played on who is the best game for the belly (Lola Tung) Since the books were published. Conrad team (Christopher Briney) or the Jeremiah team (Gavin Casalegno))? This debate has been underway since the publication of books. And until season 3, the choice seemed clear: Conrad. But then, Belly chose Jeremiah, and the pair got engaged, leaving most of season 3 about their wedding planning, and Conrad took a large sideline. But To the great pleasure of lovers of Conrad, Belly and Jérémie called their marriage. Without forgetting, Conrad admitted her love for her, so it’s just a matter of time before meeting and going to sunset together.
At the end of the day, there is no harm in preferring one to the other. Even being extremely passionate about your opinion on who should meet is not intrinsically harmful. But season 3 in particular has brought an extreme wave of intimidation not only the character of Jeremiah, but the actor who plays him. And of course, the ribs on a fictitious character are one thing. We can all agree that the characters do not always make the most pleasant decisions. But when these complaints start to come across an actor who does their job and the jokes turn into real intimidation, things become much more serious. And The summer when I became pretty Fans took their Conrad Pride team to a whole new level. So what does it mean for the show in the future?
Fans do not like Jeremiah in “summer, I became pretty”
Jeremiah was quite appreciated in season 1, and for the most part, season 2. But season 3 completely changed its character and made it quite questionable. Not only is he never there to help the belly plan their marriage, but they demand that they have extravagant chocolate cakes that they cannot afford and decide that they should have it at the country club just to obtain the approval of his father. His biggest defect is that he deceived the belly to Cabo. Not only once, but twice. And as we recently learned via his friends, it was not as drunk with an error he told him. He deliberately locked the door and ignored the calls of his friends for him, which means that he knew very well what he was doing. It is natural that fans call the behavior of the character and judged him a partner unfit for the belly, especially when Conrad promises him fundamentally the world when we are in his narration.
But instead of simply keeping the comments to the character, the fans directed their hatred towards Gavin Casalegno, who portrays Jeremiah. He talked about the answer to his character in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “They tend not to love him, yes,” he started. “I think it is important to understand and realize that it is a fictitious story – and it is not me either.”
Before the season, Amazon Prime published a statement to try to ward off such an answer, saying, “Cousins is our safe place. All good, everything that is magical. Let’s keep the conversation this summer.” But it clearly did not work. Casalegno praised the streamer for their attempts.
“I don’t think there is a single human being in the world that can bring emotional negativity to the extent that things like this happen. And I think that is why Amazon has done a good job to intervene and be like” hey, no intimidation “however, not really good.”
What does the answer to Jeremiah mean for the rest of “summer that I became pretty”?
Fans who do not like Jeremiah can now reproduce easily, because they have officially canceled their marriage and put an end to their relationship. But there are still a few episodes in season 3, and at that time, Jérémie will probably have to be closed with Belly and Conrad. These are relationships that go back over 20 years; They all grew up together. Even if he did not reconcile with his belly, he will have to make amends with Conrad – this is what Susannah (Rachel Blanchard) would like.
There is also whether this is the last season of The summer when I became pretty. If this is the case, Jeremiah will need an closure arc. Its history cannot be left open, where the show will be incomplete. Or, if the show decides to continue with a fourth season, since the rest of season 3 is already continuing from the end of the books, Jérémie will probably be part of this story as well. We don’t know what Jenny Han Has sleeves for these characters, but we are in an unexplored territory in the future, so anything is possible. It is therefore preferable to make your peace with Jeremiah.
After all, Casalegno does not let hatred dissuade him. In the same interview, he calls the role of “dream work”. He also sprang from his character:
“I said to myself:” Oh, wow, this guy seems really fun. “It very much looked like vibrations of Sunshine and Golden Retriever.
Maybe he’s not the perfect guy for the belly, but at the end of the day, he’s just a character, and Casalegno clearly does an excellent job by playing it if he manages to encourage such a strong reaction. But now that the marriage is off and that the team jellyfish are no longer, I hope that the hate of Jeremiah is going out, and Casalegno can get a break in the incessant comments that arise.
