At the bar of Powers of Chad season 1 episode 5, Russ meets a woman and hooks up in her cybertruck, which also leads them to talk about happiness and whether or not he deserves it. Although this relationship seems random, except that their post-affair discussion leads to a life-changing decision for Russ, it has serious consequences for Chad Powers the next day.
When he becomes Chad the next day for the interview at Jake’s house, he meets the woman from the other night. She turns out to be Jake’s wife, Wendy. And even though Wendy doesn’t recognize him, Chad panics that they might have connected while he keeps his cool. But that’s not the only problem, because after a heated argument between Wendy and Jake, she blurts out their relationship.
This causes Jake to wonder why he doesn’t like Russ Holliday in front of Ricky and a morose-looking Chad. He calls Russ cancer, which is why he didn’t want the team to draft him as quarterback before. After learning what Wendy and Russ did the other night, he thinks his decision to reject Russ was the right choice, but he also thinks it has come back to haunt him.
Powers of Chad season 1 episode 5: Jake suffers a heart attack
From his heated argument with Wendy over his infidelity and how she blames him and his job to the ranting about Russ, things catch up with Jake by the end of Powers of Chad season 1 episode 5. In the middle of his rant, he tells Ricky to call 911 as he starts breathing heavily. Jake thinks he’s having a heart attack.
Meanwhile, Chad tenses in the background. Within minutes, things got serious. Technically, he didn’t betray Jake. Although he slept with the coach’s wife the night before, he has no way of knowing that the woman is actually Wendy. That said, it seems Russ’s bad luck has rubbed off on him.
