Why Bix left Cassian in Andor Season 2, according to Adria Arjona

“Andor” is officially finished, and the future of “Star Wars” is disconcerting. However, we will always have this wonderful month when the Internet has been filled not only with theories, but also a deep appreciation for the audacity of Tony Gilroy and the efforts of his team in “Andor” (this and a plethora of memes who led the atmosphere every week after another tenderness of episodes).

Indeed, season 2 of “Andor” was both a masterpiece and undoubtedly the biggest “Star Wars” project of all time, as well as one of the best television programs of the 2020s, period. It was also a tragedy season in which we saw the formation of the rebellious alliance to train and quickly erased his founding father of history. And although we have witnessed the deaths of many favorite characters of fans to start, one of the most heartbreaking moments of season 2 did not involve dying. It is rather when Bix (Adria Arjona) broke with Cassian (Diego Luna), essentially, send an email in episode 9, only to have a last overview of her in the final of the series (where we see her and the child of Cassian on Mina-Rau).

This rupture was a source of many debates among fans, in particular with regard to the question of whether Bix knew that she was pregnant when she left Cassian or not. In an interview with Collider, Arjona approached the debate and confirmed that Bix actually knew her pregnancy when she left Cassian and Yavin IV. “Cassian is ready to abandon everything for Bix, and Bix knows it. This is the importance of Bix for Cassian,” said Arjona. “It is a great sacrifice that she makes, a great sacrifice of love not only for what is best for Cassian but also for what is best for rebellion.”

“She says it:” I choose the rebellion. “But ultimately, she chooses the future of her family and the future of the galaxy in which she will raise this child,” added Arjona. “It is a great instinct of mother who comes into play. I do not know how she would have made this decision differently.”

The sacrifice of Bix talks about what Andor is

What makes Bix’s sacrifice by leaving Cassian and the rebellion behind – remember, she was in the fight long before Cassian even begins to think about resisting the Empire – is that it sums up the main idea of ”and or”. His leaving Cassian so that he has nothing to lose and can become the rebellious leader that he is intended to be (and, with Arjona being a Latina, the inclusion of a healer of force and of spiritualism influencing Bix’s decision in this story was perfect) made a beautifully tragic romance. And yet, it is specifically knowledge that Bix sacrifices his future with Cassian and his own idealism for the good of his child to be born which is perhaps the most powerful idea of the whole season.

“Rebellions is built on Hope” was already the best line of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” Before “Andor” gave him a story of origin, but his inclusion in season 2 transformed it into the central idea of the season. It is not enough to fight the Empire for revenge or to defend what is good and to prevent the atrocities that translate today, it must also be to create a better future. Luthen Rael of Stellan Skarsgård, for example, was so obsessed with the destruction of the Empire that he never planned that the rebellion he built would leave it. Likewise, Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker) was only concerned about the revenge of what was done in his native planet and could not see his fight. Even the rebellious command was so cared for restoring the Republic that they apparently forgotten how the organization was divided and corrupt before its fall. It is not surprising that the new Republic did not last very long, opening the way to the first order.

Likewise, everyone in “Andor” is so concerned to fight the Empire today, he cannot think of what will look like tomorrow or what will all their sacrifices be used. Bix knowing that she is with the child and was moving away so that Cassian can do her job while she is at a fighting distance of the fighting is exactly what the entire “Andor” has been. All sacrifices, all fights are for this: the future that the child of Cassian and Bix will see. They burned their lives for a sunrise that they knew that they would not see, but that their children will do it.

“Andor ‘is currently broadcast on Disney +.
