In the cricket world, the debate on the best captain of all time often triggers endless discussions between players and fans. Recently, old West Indies versatile Kieron Pollard Added his voice to the conversation, distinguishing the legendary Indian cricket player as his choice for the biggest sports leader.
Kieron Pollard chooses the best Cricket captain
Pollard, who has had an illustrious career with the Antilles and in the Global T20 leagues, chose Mrs Dona Like his choice. He admitted that he had never shared a cloakroom with Dhoni. However, he pointed out that even at a distance, the meaning of Dhoni’s field on the ground and calm decision -making left a lasting impression.
“The best cricket captain? I never played by his side, but I saw some of his tactics on the cricket field, and I really enjoyed Ms Dhoni. I enjoyed his captain from afar, playing against him, being in the middle, seeing his tactics and things like that. For me, it must be MS Dhoni,” Pollard shared an interview with News24sports.
Pollard’s admiration highlights Dhoni’s unique capacity to influence not only his teammates but also his opponents. The former star of the Antilles, who has captain of the franchises and on his national side, includes the immense challenges of leadership in modern cricket – making his praise for Dhoni even more important.

Sparkling inheritance as a skipper
In particular, Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2019, but his inheritance as the most successful captain in India remains unprecedented. Leading India in 332 games through the formats, he recorded 179 victories – a record that placed him at the top of the Indian cricket leadership list.
His captain was marked by several historic milestones:
- Triumph of the 2007 T20 World Cup: Dhoni announced his arrival as a leader by guiding a young Indian team to victory in the ICC T20 World Cup inaugural South Africa.
- Odi 2011 World Cup glory: Perhaps the most emblematic moment of his career, Dhoni sealed the final against Sri Lanka with a six winner, ending India in 28 years for the trophy.
- Success of the 2013 Champions Trophy: Under its direction, India has become the first team to win the three ICC White-Ball tournaments.
Beyond the trophies, Dhoni was celebrated for its calm under pressure, clever field investments and confidence in the development of young talents – a quality that resonates with the remarks of Pollard.
Although it moves away from international cricket, Dhoni continues to inspire through the Premier Indian League (IPL). In the 2025 season, he turned out Chennai Super Kings (CSK)contributing 196 points in 13 rounds. Although it is not at its peak, the influence of Dhoni to guide the team and the mentoring of young people remains invaluable.
