“Who could be so heartless?”

The former NBA All-Star, Dwight Howard, cries the loss of his beloved company puppy on Sunday, which was killed in an accident of offense.

The tragic event took place on June 18 in the city of Suwanee, in Georgia.

“I am devastated because you were the dog who never left my side, the dog that stuck to my hip at any time, and the only time you get away without me being there, someone keeps you away from me,” wrote Howard on Instagram.

“Who might be so heartless to do that with such an innocent girl without remorse?”

Howard, an All-Star and the NBA champion eight times, published several photos and videos of his best friend faithfully by his side.

Dwight Howard asks for fans help

Dwight Howard shared his sorrow in an emotional post, describing Sunday as his “peace” and his “protector” who have always been by his side.

More than that, however, he asked for help from the fans to find who could have hit his dog, then fled the scene without informing anyone. Or maybe take him to an emergency veterinarian.

“Please, if someone has information about a Belgian Malinese who was hit by a car on June 18, 2025 in Suwanee, Georgia, let me know,” he argued.

Fans were rightly dismayed about the news of Howard’s loss.

“I’m really sorry,” said a person. “What a heartless action to hit a poor dog and not return it immediately to an emergency veterinarian.”

“Dogs are family, like a brother or a child for some. Praying for force in these difficult times,” consoled another. “Remember that all dogs go to paradise.”

Indeed, they do.

The Superman Championship Race with the Lakers

Dwight Howard experienced a memorable championship race with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020. As a rescue center in Anthony Davis and Javale McGee, Howard adopted a reduced role, on average 7.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per match in 18.9 minutes on the bench during the regular season.

His physical presence and his defensive tenacity turned out to be precious in the playoffs, especially in the finals of the West Conference against the Denver Nuggets, where he helped contain Nikola Jokić.

In the NBA final against the Miami Heat this season, the energy and the rebound of Howard supported the prevailing before the Lakers, contributing to their victory in the 4-2 series and the 17th franchise championship.

Howard would later claim that LeBron James had launched him the team for daring to call him to be lazy during training.

After his departure, the Lakers finished with a file of 42-30, 12 less victories than the previous season, and were eliminated eliminatory series in the first round.
