Milwaukee Bucks striker Bobby Portis refused his player option and will sign a $ 44 million contract over three years to stay with the team, several media reported on Sunday.

Portis, 30, had until Sunday to decide the player’s option worth $ 13.4 million. The New Deal includes a player option in the last season of 2027-28, the Milwaukee Journal-Ventinel.

Portis collected an average of 13.9 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists in just 49 games (seven departures) last season, when the NBA suspended 25 games without salary for violating the anti-drug policy of the League.

The NBA said that Portis had been tested positive for tramadol medication, a drug used to treat intense pain in adults. Portis agent, Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports, told ESPN that his client confused tramadol with an approved pain drug called Toradol.

Portis collected an average of 13.6 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 339 regular season games (99 departures) in five seasons in Milwaukee, where it was a valued reserve voted third for the sixth man of the year of the NBA in 2023 and 2024.

For his career, Portis is on average 12.0 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 654 regular season games (153 departures) for the Chicago Bulls (2015-19), Washington Wizards (2019), New York Knicks (2019-20) and Bucks (2020-print).
