Whitney Leavitt to Make Broadway Debut as Roxie Hart in ‘Chicago’

Whitney Leavitt is stepping off the dance floor, away from the reality TV cameras and into the spotlight of one of musical theater’s most iconic roles.

THE Dancing with the stars Season 34 semi-finalist and star of Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives will make her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago.

Its run begins February 2, 2026 at the Ambassador Theater in New York for a six-week limited engagement through March 15, 2026.

It will be Leavitt’s first professional theatrical role.

The Utah-based millennial mother of three and social media personality, 32 — who has gained a devoted fan base online through her mix of dance videos, family comedy and lifestyle content — has some history with Chicago. On DWTSshe and Mark Ballas performed an Argentine tango to “Cell Block Tango”, one of the show’s most iconic numbers.

Now in its 29th year, Chicago is the longest-running American musical in Broadway history.

Written by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, the musical follows killers Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, two murderers who use their criminal notoriety to gain fame on the Vaudeville circuit.

Its score, with music by John Kander and lyrics by Ebb, features some of the most beloved songs in musical theater history, including “All That Jazz,” “When You’re Good to Momma,” “Roxie” and “Razzle Dazzle.”

Chicago originally premiered in 1975 with legendary stars Gwen Verdon and Chita Rivera playing Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, respectively. The 1996 revival, directed by Walter Bobbie and first starring Ann Reinking and Bebe Neuwirth, won six Tony Awards, including best revival of a musical.

An all-star film adaptation was released in 2002 with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Renée Zellweger in the lead roles, alongside a superstar cast including Richard Gere, Taye Diggs, Christine Baranski and Queen Latifah as Mama Morton. The film won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actress for Zeta-Jones.
