When does my makeup expire and when should I replace it?

How do you know if your makeup has expired?

Some make -up products have expiration dates printed on the packaging, often with an “m” symbol next to the date. However, many products do not include this marking.

Although it can be easy to say if makeup has expired (think of the products separating or drying), other times, you may not be able to say it at all.

But even if the expired makeup feels and works as it did when you bought it for the first time, it does not mean that it is sure to use on your skin or near your eyes and your mouth.

Instead, it is better to discover the conservation time of a product before deciding whether or not you have to throw it away.

Since the expiration dates vary depending on the product, here is a leaf of life cheating based on the directives of the American Academy of Dermatology Association:

  • Liquid eyes makeup (such as liquid eyeliner, mascara): 3 months
  • Lip balm, lip shiny, creamy or liquid eyeshadow and rollers: 6 months
  • Powdered eyelid farm: 6-9 months
  • Foundation and Corrector: 1 year
  • Eyes for the eyes, lips and eyebrows: 1 year
  • Lipstick, facial powders, lip pencils and eyes: 2 years

How to extend the shelf life of your makeup

Although you cannot change the expiration date of a product, you can take certain measures to maintain its shelf life as expected.

To start, still store makeup in a cool and dry place with an exposure limited to the sun. Avoid hot and humid rooms such as bathrooms, car or leave your items in direct sunlight.

Another advice? Regularly clean your makeup brushes to prevent the spread of bacteria.
