HBO renewed The last of us For a third season before even the release of season 2. That being said, it seems that we will have to wait for years to see what is happening after this big cliffhanger. During a press conference on May 23, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann said they still didn’t know how much Ellie, Dina, Tommy and Jesse will be in season 3. Which indicates that they probably haven’t finished writing it. Bella Ramsey says they have not yet seen scripts, supporting this theory. “I have not seen any script, but yes, I expect it,” said Ramsey. “I think I’m going to be there, but not a lot. We have had conversations on this subject. I have somewhat an approximate idea of what it will be, but I can’t tell you.”
As in the game, this next season of The last of us will be a flip of perspective. Instead of following Ellie de Ramsey, season 3 will be all about Abby de Kaitlyn Dever. Dever is currently running Godzilla x Kong: Supernova. But once it is wrapped, it may be time for some zombies? Mazin knows it’s time to remove the head. “It becomes more difficult to do, because each episode becomes big,” he said Variety. “You don’t want to wait four years for a finish of 17 episodes, or anything.”
