What to do with the ballroom in 2029?

Over the past year you have read Nation writers like Elie Mystal, Kaveh Akbar, John Nichols, Jeanne Walsh, secret bryce, David Zirin, Damn Lord, Michael T. Klare, Katha Pollitt, Amy Littlefield, Gregg GonsalvesAnd Sacha Abramski tackling the corruption of the Trump family, setting the record straight on Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s catastrophic Make America Healthy Again movement, studying the fallout and human cost of the DOGE wrecking ball, preempting the Supreme Court’s dangerous anti-democratic rulings, and amplifying successful resistance tactics in the streets and in Congress.

We publish these stories because when members of our communities are kidnapped, household debt increases and AI data centers cause water and electricity shortages. we have a duty, as journalists, to do everything possible to inform the public.

In 2026, our goal is to do more than ever, but we need your support to get there.

Through December 31, one generous donor will match all donations up to $75,000. This means your contribution will be doubled, dollar for dollar. If we reached the full match, we will start 2026 with $150,000 investing in the stories that impact the lives of real people – the kinds of stories that billionaire-owned, corporate-backed media don’t cover.

With your support, our team will publish major stories that the president and his allies won’t want you to read. We’ll cover the emerging military-industrial complex and issues of war, peace and surveillance, as well as the affordability crisis, hunger, housing, healthcare, the environment, attacks on reproductive rights and much more. At the same time, we will imagine alternatives to the Trumpian regime and intensify efforts to create a better world, here and now.

Although your donation will have twice the impact, I ask you to support The Nation with a donation today. You go hold accountable the journalists, editors and fact-checkers best equipped to hold this authoritarian administration accountable.

I hope you don’t miss this moment: donate to The Nation Today.

Ahead,

Katrina Vanden Heuvel
