What I hear about the deadline for the trade of cardinals with less than 48 hours to do

ST. Louis – Rivaux clubs continue to call the Cardinals of St. Louis concerning their trio of rescue of Ryan Helsley, Phil Maton and Steven Matz. The enclosure market is far from being trained. Baseball president John Mozeliak is ready to wait for the right deal, and the story suggests that he will do this exactly.
Most of the Mozeliak’s important professions took place on the day of the deadline, if not hours before. He exchanged Tommy Edman last year in the afternoon of the deadline. Jack Flaherty was exchanged about an hour before the 2023 deadline. The acquisition of Mozeliak from Jordan Montgomery of the New York Yankees for Harrison Bader met a few minutes before the 2022 deadline. His agreement in 2021 also for Jon Lester.
Cardinals have a considerable lever effect with regard to their readers. Several teams are in the mixture for Helsley, the closest. The Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays and Detroit Tigers are all considered in double All-Star. Philadelphia’s interest in Helsley is at least off -season.

Helsley will be a free agent after this season, but its value has skyrocketed when the Cleveland closer guards Emmanuel Clas landed on the list of disciplinary paid holidays until August 31 as part of an MLB sports betting survey. Helsley, David Bednar of Pittsburgh Pirates and Peter Fairbanks of the Rays of Tampa Bay (if the Rays decide to sell) represent the three main closers available. The Padres de San Diego, although on the market of a lifter, are not considered an adjustment for Helsley for the moment. San Diego expressed his interest in the left -handed lift Jojo Romero, who has a MPM of 2.12 this year and will not be free agent in 2027.
Matz prospered as an end -of -round lift for St. Louis, but other clubs could consider him as a swingman option. After having spent most of his departure career, Matz was placed in the enclosure of the Lights (although he made two departures from Place at the start of the season). Upon entering the game on Tuesday, Matz had an MPM of 3.60 out of 29 appearances in relief, but it was particularly effective against left -handers, with left -handers hitting only .183 / .221 / .232 out of it.
Matz is in the last year of the $ 44 million over four years agreement which he signed with St. Louis before the 2022 season and hopes to return to a starting role next year. It is open to be used both in relief and in rotation if it is exchanged. Although it has been used in shorter relays lately, Matz has been stretched at around 40 locations and estimated, it would only take a few weeks to work up to 80. AthleticsWill Sammon identified the Blue Jays as a club looking for a swingman. Matz spent the 2021 season in Toronto, making 29 departures with an MPM of 3.82 and would be open to a meeting.
Toronto has already balanced a rescue agreement, adding Tuesday afternoon Tétranthony Domínguez des Orioles de Baltimore, and should continue to continue the rescue market, according to Athletics‘S Mitch Bannon.
St. Louis continues to make calls to Nolan Arenado, but no substantial traction has formed. The third basis market is robust and only one team will win the highest target, Eugenio Suarez from the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Seattle Mariners, the Chicago Cubs, the Brewers of Milwaukee and Cincinnati Reds all seek to improve the hot corner. However, it is unlikely that cardinals would be negotiating within their division – in particular with their longtime rival. We also do not know which Arenadadi teams would give up his complete non-exchange clause, if necessary.
Willson Contreras recently met Mozeliak to repeat his desire to stay with the cardinals. Contreras is signed until 2027 and also has a complete clause without exchange. It had not been linked to any commercial speculation; His conversation with Mozeliak simply confirms that he will not be moved. Sonny Gray and Miles Mikolas, the two remaining veterans with comprehensive non-negotiation statutes, are also not likely to be exchanged.
