What happens to your body when you add artichoke extract to your diet

Some believe that the extract of artichoke leaves offers many health benefits, including the drop in blood cholesterol levels, Promote weight loss, even “clean” the liver. The evidence in support of these complaints is generally low, and there is not enough evidence to support the use of the extract of artichoke sheets in the treatment of health problems.

1. Your liver health can be sustained

There are statements that artichoke extracts “cleanses” the liver. Some studies suggest that this can reduce liver inflammation in adults with fatty liver disease, but there is no evidence that it can reduce or reverse the toxicity of the liver.

4. Weight loss can be sustained

A 2018 study published in the journal Nutrients reported that the extract of artichoke leaves has reversed the symptoms of metabolic syndrome, including the waist and high blood sugar, in obese rats fed with a diet rich in fat. The same has not yet been shown in humans.

5. Cholesterol can improve

It is not yet clear how effective artichokes are to lower cholesterol. So far, studies have been mixed.

That said, some studies suggest that the extract of artichoke sheets works similarly to the statins commonly used to treat Hypercholesterolemia (High cholesterol). Statins work by blocking an enzyme called HMG-COA Reductase which plays a role in cholesterol production.

This suggests that the extract of artichoke sheets can play a role in the management of light hypercholesterolemia.

The artichokes also contain compounds based on plants called flavonoids which can help reduce the oxidation of LDL, a process that contributes to atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) and a heart disease.

6. The effects of skin aging can be reduced (when applied topically)

The extract of artichoke leaves is sometimes infused in face creams claiming that it has anti-aging effects.

A 2018 study published in the journal Molecule suggested that the artichoke extract from the cream reduces inflammation and improves blood circulation in the skin. In doing so, it can help reduce sagging and roughness. The study authors reported that the artichoke extract cream resulted in an improvement of 19.74% of skin roughness and an improvement of 11.45% of skin elasticity compared to the placebo cream.

What side effects are possible?

Artichokes are safe when consumed as food. Studies suggest that artichoke supplements can also be sure when taken up to 23 months.

Side effects, if necessary, tend to be soft and may include:

  • Gas or bloating
  • Stir
  • A metallic or “out” taste
  • Overturned stomach
  • Diarrhea

Artichoke supplements can cause a reaction in people allergic to concerns, to the daisies and to other similar plants. The allergic reaction tends to be light, causing light stomach aches and cowardly stools.

It is important to remember that the simple fact that a product is “natural” does not necessarily mean that it is safe or beneficial.

Dosage and preparation

There is no recommended dose for the extract of artichoke leaves in any form. The amounts used in research vary from 250 to 2,700 mg per day. As a rule, never exceed the dosage listed in terms of the product.

A 2018 study in Current drug safety reported that an older adult treated for diabetes and high blood pressure took 1.5 liters (approximately six cups) of artichoke infusion and was hospitalized with extreme anemia and liver poisoning.

Security supplement

Due to the lack of research on safety, the extract of artichoke leaves should not be used in children, pregnant people or breastfeeding, or those who suffer from chronic medical problems. Talk to your health care provider so that you can be monitored for side effects.

You can find an extract of artichoke sheets online or in stores and pharmacies where other plants based on plants and nutritional supplements are sold.

Nutritional supplements are not strongly regulated in the United States, and quality can vary from one brand to another.
