Inside the glamor Hollywood glamor from the W Glow-Up hotel

In a support role, the W Hollywood Hotel made its debut in January at the crossroads of Hollywood and Vine, near Walk of Fame, the Theater Pantages and the Capitol Records Tower. It would soon serve as a parameter for many events, first, red carpets, launches and evenings on the Zeitgeisty roof which made the pages of gossip.

There were not many renowned hotels in Hollywood at the time. Château Marmont, the Beverly Hills Hotel, Sunset Tower and others were miles away. Two years ago, in order to adapt to its changing frame, W Hollywood began a significant transformation with Rockwell Group at the helm. Inside the living room (do not call it a “hall”, at least not if you work for the brand), the interior palette now has soothing green vegetables, yellow and blues with wavy velvet seats; A celestial mirror work acts as the centerpiece of the play; And a rounded staircase and a conversation pit promote the links between the guests. The columns of the living room went from square to circular. The bar has been moved, with retractable glass walls that open onto the garden. A lighting installation faces the large fireplace, framed by concrete curtains printed in 35 feet high. There are also two new restoration options: “Modern Angeleno” there for dinner (think of milk bread, tiradito and rambling eggs) and patio in the garden for meals all day.

“This hotel contextualizes Hollywood and is a meeting place of all kinds of spaces – there is a feeling that you arrive in a secret garden,” explains designer David Rockwell, who also creates sets for Broadway shows, including Art, With James Corden, Neil Patrick Harris and Bobby Cannavale, opening later this year. “When you think of Hollywood and its surroundings, you think of hidden houses behind hedges. We wanted this anticipation, this feeling of discovery, and that this place is inside and outside. We have examined the creation of cinematographic light. Above social spaces, the 319 spacious rooms and suites have all been updated with 21st century features, maximizing work, relaxation and entertainment. Curved seats, oversized window seats and personalized lights throw a radiant glow. The 12 suites, each with separate living spaces, dining rooms, integrated wet bars and cupboards from and hours, attract high -level reservations. The Oasis suite, with outdoor seats for 50, and the mega suite, with an outdoor living room and a library lounge with billiards.

The old pool club, a damp bridge, has sunburn and sunset. The nightclub is now the loft, offering a panoramic view of Los Angeles. It is the first hotel with a tempo 3D space system that creates an immersive sound landscape adapted to each person. In a sign of the time, the old VIP fair on the ground floor is now the gymnasium.

Rockwell is not new for W. In 1998, the Visionary Starwood Hotels and Resorts Barry Sternlicht instructed the designer to help him create the first W hotel in New York. Often quoted as the project which launched the movement of the Boutique Lifestyle hotel, the Hotel W Original changed the game. The staff army dressed not in costumes but in black t-shirts, and fashionable words like “experiences” and “programming” have entered the brand lexicon.

“Our birthplace is New York,” says George Fleck, senior vice-president and world brand manager at W Hotels. “And Los Angeles and Hollywood, being the epicenter of entertainment, is an essential element of our DNA. We needed our hotels in these two cities to be presentation.”

The four -year transformation of the W New York – Union Square has recently been completed. The other properties that have undergone renovations include W Austin, W Dallas, W Hoboken and W Nashville. New hotels include W Budapest, W Sydney, W Prague and W Punta Cana.

Said Fleck: “We are expecting that by 2029, 90% of our American portfolio will be transformed.”
