Pediatricians recommend the supervised “stomach time” so that babies help strengthen the muscles of the neck, shoulders and arms.

But a multitude of adults on Tiktok have also spent time on their stomach and suggest that activity can also benefit adults.

In a viral position, the user of Tiktok @chsnwhn says that the time of the adult belly “solves the neck of technology”, which refers to the neck or pain or stiffness caused by a bad posture while scrolling your phone or using your laptop.

In another video, the fitness coach @jennlashley suggests that stomach time improves posture overall.

Doctors and physiotherapists say these Tiktok users can be on something.

“The time of the belly for adults allows people to strengthen the muscles on the posterior side or the back of the body,” explains Jason Snibbe, MD, an orthopedic surgeon in Los Angeles. “These are critical muscles for posture, vertebral stability and stabilization of the lower limbs.”
