“What do you mean an invoice by post?”

An Australian Tiktker was shocked to learn that the bills for his experience at the American Hospital were only the start after having originally published a video saying that it was “not as bad” as he expected.
In the original of TikTOKER video Published on Monday, the man explained that he had recently broke the wrist. After hearing about the American health system and its notoriously expensive costs, the Tiktker said that he had prepared for the worst.
“It’s not as bad as I expected. It’s not great, but it’s not terrible,” he said. “I thought I would be in the hole for thousands of dollars after having broken my wrist … I spent $ 250 for the urgent care visit and the initial radiography for my hand.”
The Tiktker continued by saying that they had been billed $ 350 after visiting a hand specialist, which means that he paid about $ 600 in total. Although he explained that in Australia, something like it could have been free or cost “maybe $ 40”, he expressed that this experience was “not terrible”.
However, while the tiktker video has recovered the online traction, dozens of American users have taken its comments section to warn him that another bill was likely.
“I’m really sorry for the shock you will receive by post,” said a user. “I knew there was a misunderstanding immediately,” said a user.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I’m [going to] Hold on your hand when I say this … that this is not the total cost, the bill arrives, “wrote another user.
The Tiktker, whose video has since reached more than 690,000 views, was amazed by the comments. “What do you mean to say an invoice by post,” he wrote in a comment.
Although the tiktker did not receive the complete invoice, it was dismayed to learn that its initial estimates to have to pay “thousands of dollars” for its treatment were probably exact on the basis of user comments.
“So you tell me that in America, you can be touched by a car, go to the hospital, you have insurance but you get as an invoice of $ 50,000 and will you have to pay for this invoice of $ 50,000?” The man said in a follow -up video Wednesday. “It’s crazy. Why are you not Riot more often?”
Although the cost of health care in the United States can be partially attributed to the aging population, progress in technology and inflation, health care is also more expensive in the United States compared to its peers, because it largely considers coverage of health care as voluntary, according to a May 2024 report Kff.
Compared to similar countries, the United States does not negotiate as much to reduce the price of medicines. The country also does not have a main format of health care coverage, because the cover styles vary between public and private.
