I suppose it would be difficult to gauge what the liberal media’s worst take on the government shutdown was.
But I have to explain how bad this take was on the part of MSNBC Morning Joe host Jonathan Lemire. He also writes for The Atlantic, and it shows. This tweet is supposed to encourage you to read one of his Atlantic articles. He claimed President Donald Trump was “MIA” and unaware of the government shutdown.

Now, let’s start with what’s fascinating here: whose fault is Schumer’s shutdown, Jon?
Oops, I gave it away with that description. It’s not Trump or the Republicans keeping the government closed, it’s the Democrats with their votes. Trump cannot produce the 60 votes needed to end the lockdown. It all depends on the Democrats. The president does not have the right to vote. But that doesn’t show in Lemire’s tweet. We’re just supposed to forget about it. As with all things liberal media, Trump is somehow at fault…even if he isn’t.
Moreover, Trump is far from being “MIA,” as the White House’s rapid response briefing pointed out. They were curt, calling Lemire an “idiot.”

They also noted that Trump had raised the issue of the shutdown several times. He also met with Democratic leaders.

Meanwhile, Democrats voted against opening the government with a continuing and clear resolution. They voted to deny paying the military, not to fund SNAP, and not to pay active-duty federal employees. All because they want to hold the American people hostage for their political agenda.
Lemire was also torn by others for the poor take.
