West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta

The West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta has been rid of accusations to fix spots and will not make any punishment for the association football.

Paqueta was accused of having tried to be reserved to influence the Paris markets so that friends and family can benefit from it.

The Brazilian international was warned of matches against Leicester, Aston Villa and Leeds in the 2002-23 season and against Bournemouth the season after. Each match has been the subject of suspect bets models, with most drawn to the island of Paquetá off the coast of Rio de Janeiro where the player was born and from which he takes his name.

Package accused of four violations

The 27 -year -old man was accused of four violations of the Rule FE E5.1 who relates to a player seeking to “influence progress, driving or any other aspect or occurrence in these matches by intentionally seeking to receive a card from the referee with the inappropriate aim of affecting the betting market so that one or more people benefit from bets.”

Paqueta denied the charges and an independent regulatory committee found in his favor.

However, two other accusations of “alleged failures to comply with its obligations to answer questions and provide information to the FA survey”, however, was confirmed, the regulatory committee was now to decide on an appropriate sanction.

Paqueta was relieved that the question was now finished and it can focus on the coming season.

He said to the West Ham official website: “Since the first day of this investigation, I maintained my innocence against these extremely serious accusations. I can not say anything more right now, but I would like to express how grateful I am to God and how much I am impatient to return to football with a smile on my face.

“To my wife who never dropped my hand, to West Ham United, to fans who have always encouraged me, and to my family, to my friends and the legal team who supported me – thank you for everything.”

Lucas has always played despite the accusations – Brady

West Ham vice-president Karren Brady added: “We are delighted that Lucas was authorized. He maintained his innocence from the start, and as a club, we resolutely supported next to him and supported him throughout the process.

“Despite the incredible pressure on him, Lucas played week after week for the club, always giving everything. It was a difficult period for Lucas and his family, but he remained absolutely professional throughout and he is now looking forward to tracing a line under this episode, just like everyone at West Ham United.”

Paqueta joined West Ham from Lyon in August 2022 for club fees of 51 million pounds sterling. He almost joined Manchester City 12 months later, but the two -year investigation on the charges of fixing the spots began at that time with the breakdown.
