‘We Saw It’ – Two-Time WWE Champion Ends Cody Rhodes’ Undisputed Title Reign, According to Wrestling Personality

Fans can’t seem to get enough of Cody Rhodes’ run to the top of the mountain in WWE and SmackDown as undisputed champion, a title he has held since SummerSlam 2025. However, Sam Roberts thinks this could be the right time to pull the trigger on Drew McIntyre dethroning The American Nightmare.

Cody is expected to defend his gold medal against McIntyre in this weekend’s 2025 Saturday Night Main Event. Considering the Scottish Warrior has often failed when it mattered most, few are optimistic about his chances of beating Cody Rhodes. That said, Drew McIntyre is sure to bring his A-game and do everything in his power to win his 3rd world title in the global juggernaut.

Speaking on his NotSam Fight podcast, Sam Roberts expressed his desire to see McIntyre end Cody’s reign. The RAW Recap host added that since Drew McIntyre was unlucky for so long, it was about time WWE rewarded him with a victory.

“It’s because Drew is that guy who wrestles in the big matches and doesn’t win. The credible opponent that the babyface doesn’t have to take a loss against. You know, you can build on it and he makes you believe and then he loses. But we’ve seen it a lot. And people are right, there have been a lot of Drew McIntyre championship matches, that’s why I want him to win it,” Sam Roberts said. (TJRWrestling)

Sam Roberts wants Cody Rhodes to reclaim the title from Drew McIntyre

Additionally, Roberts added that McIntyre’s undisputed title reign doesn’t have to be long, as The American Nightmare could win back the gold at Royal Rumble 2026. He added that this way, WWE wouldn’t have to change the WrestleMania 42 plans it had made for Cody Rhodes.

“And again, I go back to my LA Knight thing. That doesn’t mean Drew has to go to WrestleMania as champion. That doesn’t mean Cody can’t win it back. Drew could win the title, take it to the Royal Rumble, and Cody beats Drew at the Rumble,” Knight added.

While it’s safe to say that if McIntyre fails once again this Saturday night, it could further frustrate his fans, who are already tired of seeing him lose in critical situations.
